Hi Tomodotchi’s,
As you all know, life isn’t always easy and we all have our own challenges. Personally, you know we have OCD which can cause us some serious bouts of depression, especially true in the earlier days, before we got professional help. This is more to say, life has not always been easy and without its major road blocks. This week, we wanted to share our personal mantra’s that helped get us through the toughest of times. Not by any means saying we are perfect or that we have life figured out, but hopefully these mantras can help you too!
Mantra 1 - "I can always take one more step"
This is a mantra we adopted from a great mentor of ours. We use this in times that we feel particularly overwhelmed with the tasks, emotions, and etc. of the day. This mantra is saying that rather than looking at how far we still have to go, focus on the immediate and know that we can always take one more step. No matter how tired we are, one step is always achievable. We then use this mindset to move one step forward and once we are there, we continue the mantra. We use this to catapult ourselves forward through progress one small step at a time until we reach the goal.
Essentially, this is telling us to not be overwhelmed by the amount left, but to just focus on the one thing we know we can do. We then use the progress to propel ourselves forward! Just remember, you can always take one more step so keep pushing yourself forward!

Mantra 2 - "Treat yourself with the kindness you show others"

This is a mantra we adopted earlier this year as something we wanted to practice more, in fact we wrote a whole post about it! The basic gist is that we recognized that while we try to treat others with kindness, forgiveness and compassion, we found that we were not allowing ourselves the same courtesy. This is to say, that when our friends, family and strangers make mistakes, we try to comfort and console them, we explain that they are greater than their mistake and that nothing is so big that it cannot be fixed. Further, we let them know how amazing they really are. This is a kindness we want to extend to ourselves. Rather than making a mistake and feeling defeated and wanting to give up, we remind ourselves of the ways we are greater than that mistake, exactly the same as we would do to others.
Mantra 3 - "Every experience is valuable to your story"
After every mistake or failure, one of our first instincts is to quit. After all, we’re wired to want to be comfortable and safe. However, we find that when we quit or we stop trying to move forward that we stagnate and we feel down for other reasons. So, rather than looking at mess ups as failures, we try to rewrite them into learning experiences adding to our personal stories.
Rather than saying we failed, we say that we had a learning experience on what not to do the next time and this experience has built us up to be stronger and more successful later. This mantra has really helped us to rewrite the narrative and keep pushing through some of our bigger mistakes. At the end of the day, none of us are perfect and learning experiences are bound to happen. Just remember they are valuable lessons and use them for your future!

Mantra 4 - "I am not my anxiety"

This is a more recent mantra we adopted to separate ourselves from our anxiety. Those of us with anxiety know that it has a loud voice. It can easily overwhelm and overtake our thoughts if we let it. Personally, it tends to overcome our rationality and makes us believe that its negative views are our own. Through this mantra we reinforce that our anxiety is not us, it is its own thing. We find that when we view it this way, we can have more fruitful conversations to fight back. We can separate the lies it tells us from the realities of the truth. Don’t let your anxiety stop you from moving forward, recognize it is its own voice and that you are more than it! No matter what it says.
Mantra 5 - "There is nothing you cannot overcome"
The final mantra is based off of personal experience. In that we have made it to this point in our life and have overcome every obstacle so far! For us, there were some challenges that we thought were insurmountable! However, all these years later, we are here and we made it! Remember whenever you face tough challenges in your life, there is nothing you have not overcome and there is nothing that you won’t be able to beat. Use your past strength, friends and family, this too shall pass and you will overcome!

Wrapping it up
These are our personal mantra’s that keep us moving forward when the going gets tough. We hope that the next time you face a challenge one of these mantras can help you! These really are applicable to anybody and always remember how strong and great you are!
Love,
Your Tomodotchi
